Could these images just be a preproduction Moto X running dev software? Yes….. But other outlets seem to think this is legit.
This could be your first look at a lunch boxed version of the Moto S aka Nexus 6 aka Nexus X.

Info has been flying in the last few days. And just getting back to the US my email has been slammed.
To the point, here is what I’ve been told thus far.
Looks like the original design on the nexus was scrapped, a new phablet line called the S series aka Moto S is readying launch.
This looks to be a verizon exclusive with Att getting the device after 2 months.
Very high specs as rumored before. QHD display 5.85 aka 5.9 inch display
Snap dragon 805.
According to sources there were two devices slatted to be on the nexus launch list. A 5.2 inch and a 5.9 inch device.
As reported here an elsewhere Moto would scrap or repurpose one of these devices depending on initial Moto x sales.
What does this mean? Well while speculation that the Android Silver line is dead may be true, the first initial devices from Motorola and HTC have already been built, does this mean they will be nexus devices? NO. Not at all.
According to sources Google still may bring android silver to the table, or may repurpose these devices as new Google play edition devices. This is why we see NO NEXUS branding on the Moto S we have seen leaked lately that people are considering a nexus 6 aka nexus x.
The Nexus version of the Moto S will NOT have a Motorola logo in that big circle on the back. But unless something drastically changes will look like the device we have already seen leaked with minor changes.
What about the 5.2 nexus? According to three sources, all providing the same info, the droid turbo was a candidate for this device. But Moto sources do say it was happening but it wasn’t a Moto device.
Does that mean HTC was actually building a nexus phone and pulled back? Or was this LG? We are pushing very hard to get the info. And we will update as we know more. But for now we can say for certain there will be TWO Google phablets coming this fall. One a nexus and one the Moto S.
As for the nexus 6 name. According to a friend at Google they have aggressively gone after licensing for the name. Will it be Nexus X or Nexus 6 we will soon find out as were literally less than 2 weeks away.

A source sent us the images and info below.
That stated we have no way to know the authenticity of the information, so knowing that in advance here is the info we were sent today.
Another image supposedly of the moto shamu aka nexus x aka Moto s leaked earlier this evening.
After checking with sources and with the publications publishing the Moto logo up in the corner (not good for the Moto employee, most likely will cost them their job) a source was able to confirm the image is that of a Moto X developer handset, something interesting we were able to find out was that Motorola has been toying with the idea of a Google play edition Moto X.
Could this image be the shamu, yes it could, but according to our source they state the moto logo tracks back to a Google play Moto x that was on testing.
I will follow up with our sources on the Google play angle as we were earlier told that it was being killed off for android silver.
Maybe with android silver being on hold GPE is coming back.

We saw some leaked images last evening of the Moto S at 9to5google
Easily the best pics I’ve seen to date.
The images of the device shown are actually the Moto S. We talked about this device awhile back and showed the screen protector peel for it.
While the Moto S does resemble the new Moto x that is the ONLY thing that the two devices share.
Now there is also a nexus x in the works. At the same size. This Moto S was to be a android silver device. Being reports say android silver has been scrapped (I still am not ready to say that) Motorola and Google could have decided to add the Moto S to the nexus Line.
As I have said, according to sources there will be more that one device launched by Google this year.
The nexus x will have nexus branding as other previous models have had.
It may not be as big as what LG had been doing but you won’t miss it.
This device is most likely the Moto S because of this missing branding.
As we have stated Motorola has a slew of devices this year to launch before the holidays.
To this point we have yet to be wrong on any upcoming devices from Motorola. It is one of the OEM outside of samsung that we have our best sources.
The new nexus like the Moto S will be a spec powerhouse that is for sure.

So one of the big sticking points on the Motorola devices last year was the Bootloader. Unless you purchased a developer edition you were basically stuck.
Later a method came out from China where some devices could be unlocked with a fastboot code that would cost your $45 dollars via PayPal. That was hit or miss for a lot of people.
Now a new method has emerged that will also work on the new Moto x and possibly other unreleased devices like the droid turbo.
