As for the nexus Rumors. And I call them rumors because I have nothing to conform this with.
A GSM version is coming to ATT but a unbranded model aka a nexus could also be based of the turbo.

Stay tuned. This source promises docs and images to substantiate the rumor. We’ll see.

  1. If Google decides to not release the 5.2″ version we know they are testing, then my back up choice for the Nexus 6 will be the Droid Turbo (Verizon)/Moto X Play (AT&T, T-mobile). It’s THE phone the 5.2″ Nexus 6 is based on. Google was testing both the 5.2″ (based on Droid Turbo/Moto X Play) and 5.9″ (based on Moto S) variants, but may only release one. If they decide to only release the 5.9″ Nexus smartphone, I’m not buying it. I’m getting the AT&T version of THIS, the Moto X Play.

    User manual PDF was leaked. Google it. Verizon will probably announce release next week, AT&T and T-mobile soon after. If Google releases 5.2″ Nexus 6 it will be BASED on this Motorola phone.

    Droid Turbo (Verizon: FCC ID IHDT56PK1)
    Moto X Play (AT&T | T-mobile: FCC ID IHDT56PK2 )

    * 5.2″ 1440p
    * Snapdragon 805 SoC
    * 3GB RAM
    * 20 megapixel rear camera
    * woven Kevlar back
    * Gorilla Glass
    * 32GB internal storage
    * front-facing stereo speakers
    * 3500 mAh battery
    * wireless charging
    * blah, blah, blah

    It’s basically what the 2014 5.2″ 2nd gen Moto X should have been instead of being a “mid-tier” smartphone (a re-hash of the 2013 LG G2). THIS is top tier. The Droid Turbo/Moto X Play is the successor to the Droid Maxx.

    A Nexus version would be multi-band GSM/HSPA/CDMA/LTE — but probably have only 13 megapixel camera and no Kevlar. I’m OK with that. I’ll root it, remove any bloatware, and install custom ROM. It will MY 5.2″ Nexus! 🙂

    Even if you don’t root it, with Moto you will get fast Android updates.
